Welcome to Economic Liberty

For a number of years, I have been making the case that individual economic liberty is essential to a productive economy in which all can thrive.  To all who would listen to me, I have argued, as Friedrich Hayek does so compellingly in the book The Road to Serfdom, that unless we reverse the trend toward collectivist decision making in all economic activity, we are bound for tyranny.  My arguments in that direction have until recently been mostly confined to an email list that has included only friends and family.

When, on occasion, I made the effort to impart that viewpoint to individual elected officials, I discovered that only the handful whose votes already reflected that philosophy would agree enthusiastically.  The others would listen politely, and offer some platitude about the difficulty of changing anything.  A couple of years ago, I concluded that unless we educated the electorate in the economics of individual liberty, tyranny would be our lot before long.

In 2009,Democrat progressives took over the reins of the Federal government and intensified their efforts toward collective control of the American economy.  At that point, I increased my political activity and began actively increasing my email list to include political friends and candidates for office.

I have posted here all but a few of my messages to that list since the beginning of 2010, each with the date of its original mailing, and I will post future messages here.

To all those who come here, I say welcome!  To those who already agree, I say thank you.  To those who aren't sure, I hope you will be persuaded.
